Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is the technique of using a manual method of eyebrow tattooing that creates beautiful, individual hair strokes. The results? Gorgeous, natural looking eyebrows, regardless of the amount of hair present. The microblading technique is not recommended for very oily skin as the healed results are not optimal. Microbladed eyebrows typically last one to two years for most people before they need a touch up. Cosmetic tattoo treatments are considered permanent and will not wash off — however, they will fade over time and may need to be refreshed every 12 months to 18 months. Those who do not follow aftercare instructions properly may require more frequent microblading touch-ups.

WHAT ARE COMBO BROWS?

Combo brows AKA Microshading use two techniques: Microblading and machine shading to create a more defined eyebrow. Get the best of both worlds! This is good for clients who prefer well-defined brows with a microblading at the fronts of the brow plus a shading ombre effect and/or clients who have dark, patchy brows. Suitable for all skin types. Combo Brows last anywhere from 1-3 years.

DOES PERMANENT MAKEUP EYEBROWS HURT?

At PMU Luxe Beauty we utilize numbing gel to help with any discomfort during the procedure.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR EYEBROW TATTOOS TO HEAL?

Your eyebrows will take about 30 days to completely heal. The first 10-15 days to heal will be the most important. During the first week or so, we encourage you to let them naturally heal. This means keeping them out of water, sweat, steam, etc. Once the scabbing phase passes, your eyebrows will appear lighter, and their true color should come out after four weeks. As long as you’re good at following the aftercare instructions, there shouldn’t be a problem going to work or being out in public.

HOW LONG IS THE PMU BROW PROCESS?

The appointment usually takes about two hours . Time is needed for a thorough consultation, map, draw and shape your eyebrows as well as picking the right color in order to ensure that your eyebrows turn out great!

IS MICROBLADING OR OMBRE BROWS PERMANENT?

Because the color is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off, microblading, ombre brows and combo brows is considered permanent. However, the pigment is implanted more superficially than a traditional tattoo, making it fade over time and requiring future touch ups. Please keep in mind that it is not guaranteed that the color will completely fade with time.

WILL YOU DRAW THE SHAPE ON FIRST?

Yes, we won’t start the procedure until you agree with the shape and color selected. The shape of your brow is based on your face shape and symmetry. The color is based on your skin tone, undertone and natural hair color.

CAN I WEAR MAKEUP AFTER PERMANENT MAKEUP?

Do not wear makeup on or around your brows for at least two weeks after your procedure, but everywhere else is fine.

HOW WILL MY EYEBROWS LOOK RIGHT AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

They will look great! They will be darker at first and a little darker for a couple of days, but you shouldn't experience any bruising. Some may experience some soreness and/or redness.

DOES PMU BROWS HURT AFTERWARDS?

The eyebrow tattoo area can be a little sore for the first few hours, and it is not uncommon for it to be tender for a few days.

CAN YOU MICROBLADE OVER AN EXISTING TATTOO?

Yes. However, the old tattoo must be significantly faded more than 85% faded for the hair strokes to show through and look natural. If you do have an existing tattoo, we recommend that you provide a picture to the artist so we can determine whether you are a good candidate for microblading.

I HAD MY EYEBROWS MICROBLADED SOMEWHERE ELSE, CAN YOU DO A TOUCH UP?

If you have been microbladed somewhere else and need a touch-up, the full microblading price will be charged.

AFTER YOUR BROWS HAVE HEALED

  • Microblading can last anywhere from one to two years depending on the client's lifestyle, skin type, and aftercare. Ombre brows and Microshading can last up to 1-3 years also depending on client's, lifestyle, skin type and aftercare.

  • Exposure to the sun and tanning beds can cause fading and discoloration of the eyebrow pigment.

  • When you are outdoors, always apply facial sunscreen 30 SPF+ to the brows once completely healed.

  • Maintain removal of unwanted brow hairs outside of your microbladed shape.

  • Do not laser around the brow area, as some lasers can change the color of the pigment.

  • Additional brow makeup application may still be required post-microblading to achieve your desired look.

  • For further sun protection, wear hats and sunglasses.

  • Yearly eyebrow tattoo touch-ups are recommended to maintain your results.

PLEASE NOTE: The results are natural, fuller looking eyebrows. Initially, the brows may appear darker but fade significantly over the first two weeks. Although our artists use premium products and provide exceptional service, all clients heal differently, and many factors lead to varied results. It is highly recommended to have a touch-up done, as it is very difficult to predict how well your skin will retain the pigment. Due to this and other varying factors, we cannot guarantee your results.
